Tasting Tuesday: Yards Brewing Brawler Ale

Ever hear of a Pugilist-style ale? For this week's Tasting Tuesday, we have one.

Recently, a friend handed us a bottle of Brawler Ale from Yards Brewing Co. It's really more of an English Mild Ale but, to be honest, it seems the "Pugilist" title is pure marketing hype. But since we really love the beer lineup from Yards, we'll happily let it be.

This is a dark brown ale with good carbonation and a nicely mild 4.2% ABV, so you could enjoy several of them.

The dark color comes from the roasted malt and, being an English mild ale, it has a sweet flavor with almost no bitterness to it. The finish is a tad dry, and you also get a lot of bread flavor in the aftertaste.

Overall, it's a nice, mild sipping beer and we'd recommend it to any casual craft beer fans, particularly if you like brown ales or ESBs (think Honey Brown).

Yards is a great brewery out of Philly, and they brew this year-round, so you should be able to find this pretty easily throughout the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast.

Have you tried Brawler? Let us know what you think.

Cheers!
